SOAPS ARE ALL HANDMADE
We get asked a lot about our soap weights and sizes. Due to the handcrafted nature of our soap and shampoos it can be a difficult question to answer! All of our soaps are unique and no two bars are 100% the same.
Our freshly cut full size bars range between 5.5 to 5 ounces. These bars will lose some of their water weight (10-15% typically) as they continue to cure. Water evaporates from the bars over time. Sometimes, this means a fully cured bar will weigh less than 5 ounces. This is why we use it as an approximation.
The average size of our full sized bars are about 3x1x3 inches.
LESS WATER WEIGHT IS GOOD
We cure our soaps for at least 4 weeks. We like to let them air out as long as possible before selling them.
Many soap companies shrink wrap their soap bars to help prevent continuous shrinkage due to water evaporation.
We don't like that idea because we do not need any more plastic waste added to our planet! Although there will continue to be a water weight loss over time, we prefer that over sacrificing the quality of our soaps.
Soap with less water weight is actually a good thing!
As the water evaporates, the soaps harden and they last longer. The hardened bars are very concentrated! Soap is kind of like wine, it gets better with age.
- Our soaps are a handmade product
- As our curing bars sit and wait for their new home, they will lose water weight and shrink a bit as the water evaporates
- In Winter the dry heat will often cause bars to shrink a bit more
- Zero plastic wrapping
- The older bars with less water weight will last longer and lather even better
